| Hey guys, so, I just bought an iPhone 4, thinking it would have Siri, and if not I could use the app. I was proven wrong on both. The app no longer works, and Siri is exclusive to the 4(s). I heard that there are many efforts to back-port it so that it works properly. IDEA: Take a 4S iOS 5 Firmware, crack the password (probably alpine, unless apple decided to be screwy again), Take siri (and all related files to it) from the 4s firmware, and put that where the previous voice control files are on the iPhone 4 and 3GS firmware's, and restore. If there are any updated on this matter, let me know, because I may be getting my drivers licence next year, and siri may save me from having to hit every red in town! | |

| Note: Hacking a password is not necessary if you know the password. | |

| Yeah, I guess I was thinking about the ipsw file internals. Basically, an un-zipped ipsw looks lke this. >iOS4.2.1_iPhone2,1.zip >flash >dfu Image.dmg OtherImage.dmg NextImage.dmg Restore.plist Something like that. A DMG is basically a Mac version of an ISO. I have tried to mount all 3 of those DMGs. Two of them are encrypted in a way that only Steve Jobs could have read, and the other has a password on it, that is NOT alpine, or any other Apple standard password. I guess I was thinking about that. I guess I'd as a question here relating to cracking that password, but that probably goes against one of the rules. | |
